Santo Domingo.- Agriculture minister Luis Ramón Rodriguez on Monday said exports of non-traditional products jumped 23 percent in 2013, with around US$1.2 billion in earnings.

He said farmers took out US$31.4 billion in loans last year, and built 1.6 million square meters of greenhouses, “which substantially spurred production of non-traditional products and contributed to their safety.

Rodriguez said as result of farm safety programs, the U.S. eliminated their automatic detention of local vegetables, and are already exporting peppers, cucumber, eggplant and green beans without restrictions to that market.

Les fermiers ont emprunté 31.4 milliards de dollars us et construit  1.6 million de m2 de serres , ce qui a permis d'augmenter la prodution et les conditions de sécurité de production des légumes locaux. D'ores et déjà a commençé l'exportation de concombres, d'aubergines, d'haricots verts sur le marché américain.
